The Canadian Arts Coalition is happy to contribute the chapter on Arts and Culture to the Alternative Federal Budget (AFB) again this year. The AFB is a chance to reinforce the Coalition’s Pre-Budget recommendations, but also to consider ideal paths forward when it comes to cultural policy. The Coalition is grateful to Hamal Docter and Charles Smith for their dedicated work on this chapter, with contributions by Kate Cornell, Frédéric Julien, Joel Klein, Brad Lepp, and Arden Ryshpan.
The Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives (CCPA) leads in the creation of the Alternative Federal Budget (AFB) every year as a “what-if” exercise. A Federal Budget is designed to reflect a commitment to supporting key economic, social and environmental issues.
In preparation for the release of the official Federal Budget on February 27th, 2018 we encourage you to take a look at the policies and recommendations in the AFB – particularly the chapter on Arts & Culture (pages 35 to 39).
