Arts Day 2013 prorogued

Due to the prorogation of Parliament, the Canadian Arts Coalition will be postponing its Arts Day on Parliament Hill this fall. In light of this, the Coalition will work with its members over the coming weeks to develop an alternative strategy to ensure dialogue on arts and culture with MPs.

Arts Day was originally planned for October 22, 2013. Given the revised timing of the opening of Parliament, and the delivery of the Speech from the Throne, Coalition steering committee members recognized that it would be impossible to secure meetings with MPs, and tailor Arts Day messages to respond to the Government’s legislative and policy agenda, in the time that the revised Parliamentary schedule will provide.

“We look forward to working with Coalition members and supporters to organize meetings with MPs in the future,” says CAC co-chair Eric Dubeau. “The arts sector has a positive message to share, and it is a message that affects Canadians in communities both large and small, throughout the country.”
