The announcement of the cultural policy advisory group was the subject of much discussion, including an open letter led by CARFAC. The Coalition heard your feedback and took it to a meeting with the Minister’s office. We were reassured that:
- the consultation will include several different ways to participate, including in-person and online components this fall;
- the advisory group members were chosen on the basis of their personal and career experience; and,
- the results of the Canada Council’s digital research project will also inform the Department’s thinking.
We are currently discussing with the Minister’s office additional ways to ensure that artists are engaged in the consultations, and in particular in the in-person events.
In case you missed it, our friends at the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives published a paper on New Internet Media Services. This paper is aligned with the messages shared by the Coalition during the pre-consultation.
