In our previous post, the Canadian Arts Coalition thanked the government for their recent investment in Budget 2017 – $300 million over 10 years to the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund (CCSF).
On May 24th and 25th, Canadian Arts Coalition, in partnership with the Canadian Arts Presenting Association (CAPACOA) and Global Public Affairs, hosted a webinar on the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund. We welcomed attendees across the nation and across sectors who discussed what this fund could mean for their organization and community. Many embraced the prospect of additional economic development and cultural experiences, the possibility of new partnerships through hub-like spaces, support for new artists, and much-needed updates which would enhance accessibility and environmental sustainability.
Participants shared which activities they intended to pursue – whether new builds, renovations, technology and equipment, or public art. Further to the long list of eligible expenses for the CCSF, feasibility studies are also included, which would provide arts and culture organizations with resources to adequately plan for an infrastructure project.
While there is no deadline to apply to the CCSF, interested applicants are encouraged to speak with program staff at the Department of Canadian Heritage. You can reach them by contacting your nearest regional office.
